A CALL TO ACTION - NOW IS THE TIME!
As you may have heard, the Nevada Labor Commissioner has scheduled a
hearing on March 19, 2008, to assist him in making a “determination” about
whether Wynn has violated Nevada law by taking the dealers’ tips.
We should all be greatly concerned about the outcome of this hearing
which could result in a decision in favor of Wynn (although, of course, there is
no way to predict exactly what the Labor Commissioner will choose to do after
the hearing).
Now is the time to take a few minutes and let your voice be heard.
The Labor Commissioner is appointed by the Governor.
The Governor is concerned with the will of the voters, who elected him
and whom he serves. We need to make
the Governor, and the Labor Commissioner, aware that there are thousands of
voters in Nevada who are outraged by what Wynn has done and their failure
enforce the law and stop Wynn.
Write both the Governor and the Labor Commissioner.
A form letter is attached, but please change it to say anything different
that you want or better yet draft your own letter, in your own words (but do
keep all letters respectful, please). Attend
the hearing on March 19, 2008, if you can.
If you intend to come to the March 19th hearing you can state
that in your letters (and please advise us so we can tell the Labor Commissioner
how many people to expect at the hearing).
Most of us have taken action by voting to support the union and none of
us (even those who may not have voted for the union) want Wynn to be taking our
tokes. This is a critical
opportunity to have our voices heard and make a difference. No one can do this for you, you must do it for yourself.
Please speak out against Wynn and the failure of Governor Gibbons and
Labor Commissioner Tanchek to enforce Nevada’s laws and hold Wynn accountable
